Didcot Generator

FPC were awarded the tender for a significant turnkey project to supply, install, commission and provide after care for a new 1.25mV Generator installation at a new £50m distributed warehouse facility for a key client. Capable of supporting a fully operational distribution warehouse and associated office space.

FPC developed performance specifications and  placed a number of RFP’s with various manufacturers. Once all RFP’s were submitted we conducted a technical review on the return proposals including generator technical proposal assessment and associated ATS and cabling to ensure the proposed all met the client's needs.

The technical review was followed by the comprehensive design review, we ensured that the generator compound was going to be built in the best location, siting of automatic transfer switches and cable routes worked for the client. Once completed we were able to recommend the most suited company to provide the generator and associated equipment.

Our procurement team commissioned the manufacturer. Once the generator was built our commissioning team attended the factory acceptance testing at the manufacturers facility. We then oversaw crane installation, infrastructure/component testing and finally functional performance testing in situ to accept installation on behalf of the client. Integrated new gen set installation into annual black building tests to prove under power failure that the system can carry successfully full load of the distribution warehouse (500,000 sqft) and commercial offices.
